Dorfen - The Greens in Dorfen elect a new board at the annual general meeting.

The local association is on the rise and currently has 38 members.

Whether climate and flood protection, local public transport or inner-city green spaces - the Greens in Dorfen are tirelessly committed to more greenery in the city.

At the annual general meeting on Monday evening, the city councilors of the Green Alternative List (GAL) reported on their many successes over the last three years.

Johannes Becher, deputy parliamentary group leader in the Bavarian state parliament, was also a guest at the Johanniscafé, where almost the entire party base met.

They are a good team “with a colorful bouquet of topics,” reported City Councilor Ulli Frank-Mayer about the work in the committee.

“We're sticking with it, we're always asking questions,” said the longtime spokeswoman for the Dorfen local association, who no longer stood for election in the new elections and will serve as an assessor on the board in the future.

The proposals brought to the committee by the parliamentary group range from a drinking fountain in the city to the preservation of the Dorfen outdoor swimming pool, Frank-Mayer's problem child.

The GAL also calls for “an appropriate number of social housing projects supported by funding programs”, as it is becoming increasingly difficult, especially for young families, to find affordable housing in villages.

The citizens owe the fact that the city archive is currently being set up to the Dorfen Greens as well as the bike concept.

Gerald Forstmayer has been a flood consultant for nine years.

“The issue of climate protection will keep us extremely busy in the coming years,” he explained to the listeners.

After the flood disaster on Seebach at the beginning of September 2021, he increasingly insisted on the implementation of flash flood risk management and a heavy rain hazard map.

The measures cost the city over four million euros, said Forstmayer.

The issue of climate and environmental protection has now become a high priority in the committees: “Almost all city councilors are pulling in the same direction,” emphasized Forstmayer.

And Frank-Mayer added.

“There is neither hatred nor agitation in our committee – we are in villages on the Isle of the Blessed,” she said, praising the cooperation across all faction boundaries.

It's different in the state parliament, replied Johannes Becher, deputy parliamentary group leader of the Greens in the Bavarian state parliament, and in his speech he took aim at the AfD: a party with "zero issues" that propagates with the word "lying press" and itself in the social Stage the media with fake news.

“As a civil society, we are not helpless,” said the state politician, referring to the “thousands of people” who are currently taking to the streets against the right: “The AfD does not meet the criteria of a democracy.”

He praised the commitment of the Greens in Dorfen, which includes the Greens in Conversation (GiG) series, which are podcast recordings on explosive topics that also affect life here.

And the climate demos that the alliance organizes.

The local association now has 38 members.

Clarissa Rademacher recently joined the party.

She has long wanted to get involved in politics: “Now is exactly the right time,” she said in view of the increasing discontent in society.

Wolfgang Jordan could only agree with your decision; he has been committed to green politics for 45 years: “Even if we are insulted, we think about the next generations, it is about securing prosperity without wasting resources.” Cordula Schwab and Michael Rott form a dual leadership on the new board; Wolfgang Jordan, Susanne Holzner, Winfried Eckardt and Ulli Frank-Mayer were elected as assessors.
