Small buildings stretching as far as the eye can see, with vegetable plantations right in the middle.
The image seems from another time.
However, it is indeed in the heart of Marne-la-Vallée that such a project will see the light of day.
Representatives of EpaMarne, the public development establishment of Marne-la-Vallée, as well as local elected officials, inaugurated, Tuesday February 27, "the first beam" of the market garden market, a place for selling fruit and vegetables, which will be integrated into the eco-district called Les Roseaux, in Montévrain (Seine-et-Marne).
It will open this fall next to 18 hectares of organic farming land developed in a highly urbanized area.
This project has been on the table for ten years.
“I found traces of an email mentioning it in 2011!
», recalls Antoine Petitjean, an architect from the Philippe Madec firm responsible for designing the hall.
At the time, the idea of developing agricultural land in the middle of an urbanized space may have seemed innovative.
But certain difficulties, such as finding a farmer, delayed the delivery of the project.
