Shock callers in Anzing (Ebersberg district) have made huge gains.
A senior citizen handed over jewelry and cash to a stranger - everything was gone.
Anzing
- The scam is well known and works again and again, this time in Anzing with 80,000 euros in damage: According to the police, fraudsters tricked a 77-year-old on the phone on Tuesday afternoon into believing that her daughter had caused a traffic accident.
A pregnant woman was fatally injured.
In order to avoid immediate detention, a deposit must be paid.
Deceived with real names: the person called believes the story is lying
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)
Everything was a lie, but in the course of the conversation the caller also gave the name of a judge at the district court and that of a lawyer, according to the responsible police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North in Ingolstadt.
The fact that people with these names actually exist added to the credibility of this made-up shock story.
According to the officials, the senior citizen allowed herself to be put under so much pressure that she ended up handing over cash and jewelry worth a total of around 80,000 euros to a male collector on Parkstrasse in Anzing.
The man is described as being shorter than 1.65 meters, with a stocky build and short, dark hair.
The Erding police are investigating and looking for witnesses, Tel. (08122) 9680.
Tips from the police: How to protect yourself:
Hang up if you are not sure who is calling and you feel pressured.
The police will never call you on the police emergency number 110!
Only scammers do that.
If you are unsure, dial 110. Do not use the call back button!
Call the supposedly affected relative on the number you know!
Never talk about your personal or financial circumstances on the phone.
Never hand over money to unknown people!
Call in someone you trust or call the police on the emergency number 110!
The real police never ask for cash, transfers or valuables from you to carry out investigations!
Speak to your relatives about the phenomenon and warn them about the actions of the perpetrators!
