The effect of photovoltaic systems on agriculture is being tested in Grub

Poing - At the end of 2021, the local council was already discussing a new research project in Grub.

There, the State Institute for Agriculture (LfL) wanted to test the effect of photovoltaic systems on agriculture and crops under the motto “Solar systems and plants on the same area”.

Solar systems and plants on the same area - the test

To the west of Prof.-Zorn-Straße, three different modules are now being set up within the approximately 46,000 square meter AGRI photovoltaic system on an area of around 200,000 square meters: On the one hand, panels that are mounted on five meter high stands and fields underneath - also with machines can be edited;

on the other hand, solar rows that are mounted vertically and linearly (adapt to the position of the sun).

Agriculture is then practiced between the two.

To protect the elevation, one meter wide strips of the rows are not cultivated - this is also intended to increase biodiversity.

This means that around seven percent of the area is no longer used for agriculture.

There will also be a pedestrian and cycle path in the southern part that is connected to Prof.-Zorn-Straße.

These facts were presented by those responsible at the last building and environmental committee meeting and were unanimously approved by the committee.

Mayor Thomas Stark was pleased about “the construction project of the Free State of Bavaria”.

Now the local council has to approve the proposal.fu
