No chalk, no sponge, no whiteboard markers either: the students in class 1b at Erpfting elementary school are taking a big step towards digitalizing the school.
They received nine brand new digital boards and over 30 tablets.
Landsberg/Erpfting - Digital boards enable interactive learning methods, while tablets serve as individual tools to promote access to knowledge.
When visiting the city council, the elementary school students were able to demonstrate how they could use their tablets to directly search for the country where the most snow falls - Japan.
As part of the Bavarian Digital Pact, the city council approved 250,000 euros to equip the Landsberg primary schools and the middle school with a total of 72 digital boards.
The city purchased the digital boards in 2023 and most of them are already in operation.
Mayor Doris Baumgartl: “The introduction of digital boards is a positive development and now corresponds to the reality of life for many children, but also brings with it challenges for teachers.”
School principal Sandra Fuchs also knows this: “Digitalization is an opportunity for modern teaching, but we have to ensure that the concept is sensible and targeted.
The use of tablets makes it possible to answer spontaneous questions from students immediately and promotes curiosity.” She also sees added value in the fact that digital exercise formats “offer great incentive for the children and teachers can provide individual support options.”
This also saves copies of worksheets.
At the same time, they are aware that the development of children's fine motor skills should not be neglected.
