Dorfen - There have been reports of brazen thefts in cemeteries in the local newspaper several times in the past, mostly of floral decorations and vases, but also of loving souvenirs.
The most recent case at the cemetery in Dorfen shows that this is not a trivial offense.
A wedding couple wanted to use a dream catcher to let their deceased mother take part in the ceremony in their own way.
This was now denied him by stealing the dream catcher that was attached to his mother's grave.
With this poster at the entrance to the cemetery they draw the attention of the “new owner of our dream catcher” to this: “Have you ever considered that parts of a grave also have an emotional background?”
The object, which resembles a mobile, originally comes from the tradition of some Indian peoples.
It is hung at a person's sleeping place to prevent bad dreams.
The bride and groom probably wanted to take up this idea.
The gravesites are carefully cared for and decorated by the relatives as an expression of loving memory and in memory of the deceased.
It is therefore not surprising that those injured by theft are often stunned by the audacity and lack of piety of the thieves.
Those affected are usually not concerned with the material value; the theft primarily makes them angry and very sad, as is often heard from those affected.
Such an offense is incomprehensible.
This is by no means a trivial offense, but rather a criminal offense. The legislature also provides for correspondingly severe penalties for this.
In order to counteract such thefts, cemetery visitors should be vigilant and if they observe a theft in the cemetery, be sure to report it to the local police.
