Around 6,000 soldiers are training in the Upper Palatinate during the major NATO exercise “Allied Spirit 24”.
A fatal accident occurred at the military training area in Hohenfels.
Hohenfels - A Dutch soldier died during a NATO exercise in Hohenfels (Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate).
The Dutch Ministry of Defense confirmed this on Tuesday evening, March 12th, on X (Twitter).
Accordingly, one soldier was killed and another was injured.

As the BR reports, the accident is said to have happened during a joint military exercise between the US Army and NATO allies.
Accordingly, the 28-year-old was seriously injured on Tuesday while training at the military training area with an armored personnel carrier.
He was then resuscitated but later died in the hospital.
A 24-year-old soldier was slightly injured.
The Dutch Ministry of Defense also announced this on its homepage.

They are part of the “Mission Enhanced Forward Presence”, which is intended to secure the Eastern European NATO member states.
This is a response to Russia's increasing threat potential, according to the BR.
