With the disappearance of Jean-Paul Valleton, the mayor of Villepinte loses one of her deputies and above all a husband.
“After a long fight against illness”, the 77-year-old elected representative responsible for the automobile fleet, the municipal garage, civil status, general affairs and elections died “on the night of March 12”, announces a press release from Martine Valleton (LR) released this Wednesday on Facebook.
“We are losing an elected official committed to the people of Villepinte who deeply loved Villepinte,” adds the first magistrate.
On this Wednesday, March 13, I personally lost a husband and life companion.
» The press release specifies that “all information concerning the organization of a ceremony open to the public will be communicated later to pay tribute one last time to our elected official and friend Jean-Paul”.
He had not attended municipal council meetings for several years.
In Villepinte, Jean-Paul Valleton's health problems were known to everyone.
Her repeated absences from municipal council meetings in recent years had led Mélissa Youssouf (EELV), opposition municipal councilor and vice-president of the Seine-Saint-Denis departmental council, to write to the prefect at the beginning of 2023 to demand her resignation as well as “reimbursement of compensation unduly received”.
The elected environmentalist also observed that he had the civil status delegation, whose service was shaken in 2019 by the affair of alleged false marriages.
“Madame Youssouf is one of these new elected officials who are now without faith or law, who do not respect the code of honor which meant that between political adversaries, we only opposed ideas and never personal questions,” had then reacted Martine Valleton, ensuring that her husband's municipal activity was “established, real and regular”.
“It is common knowledge that he is experiencing difficulties due to a serious illness,” she added.
Since the health crisis, it is our duty to protect ourselves.
Out of modesty and respect for his private life, and because he must do so with less exposure, he is keen to continue his missions within the framework of his delegation.

If Jean-Paul Valleton was absent from the municipal council meetings, it was because “the appearance of the municipal council room makes it impossible for anyone with reduced mobility to be able to move around due to the cramped space and steps”.
