War in Ukraine: nothing is rushing Russia towards nuclear war, but it remains “ready”, warns Putin

President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Wednesday that Russia is technically ready for nuclear war.

The head of the Kremlin, who spoke a few days before the presidential elections from March 15 to 17 which should allow him to run again for six years, however assured that the scenario of a nuclear war had not been triggered and that he did not see the need for the use of these weapons in Ukraine.



“From a military-technical point of view, we are obviously ready

,” the 71-year-old president simply declared to the Rossiya-1 television channel and the RIA news agency, when asked about the real disposition of his country to nuclear war.

“Strategic restraint”

According to Vladimir Putin, Washington is aware that any deployment of American troops on Russian territory or in Ukraine would be considered an intervention.

“The United States has enough specialists in the field of Russian-American relations and strategic restraint

,” said the head of the Russian Federation.

"That's why I don't think everything is rushing us towards that (nuclear war), but we are ready for it

. "

In his speech to the Nation delivered on February 28, Vladimir Putin once again raised the threat of atomic weapons against the West, as he has done several times since the invasion of Ukraine.

“Everything they are inventing at the moment,

” he continued, speaking of the West,

“what they are scaring the world with, all of this constitutes a real threat of conflict with the use of nuclear weapons, which means the destruction of civilization,”

Vladimir Putin warned.

The Russian president also responded in a threatening tone to Emmanuel Macron's mention of the possible sending of Western troops to Ukraine.

“The consequences for those who intervene would be even more tragic for them, we too have weapons that are capable of hitting targets on their territory

,” warned the head of the Kremlin, recalling the development by Moscow of new weapons hypersonic.
