“For twelve bucks, the children of Chartainvilliers (Eure-et-Loir) would be better off going to eat at a restaurant in Saint-Piat (Eure-et-Loir) or Mévoisins (Eure-et-Loir), JP gets carried away , a parent on social media.

“This price is shameful” also comment Gwenn and Alizée.

“It’s really dishonest not to have informed us before the new prices were put in place!

A wind of revolt is blowing among the parents of Chartainvilliers.

Friday March 8, they learned from the parents' association that an outdoor canteen rate would be applicable from the start of the school year only to children from Chartainvilliers and to those with an exemption.

The cost of a meal for little Carnutes increases from 6 euros to 11.92 euros compared to 6.21 euros for other children.

“No one warned us, this is still not officially the case,” says Caroline Laronze, vice-president of APEL.

This price is “discriminatory, especially at a time when households are struggling to make ends meet, it is indecent and undignified”.

The new pricing is even harder to digest for these families who are part of the same RPI (Intercommunal Educational Group), that of Saint-Piat, Mévoisins, Chartainvilliers and Soulaires.

Fifteen children have already deserted the canteen

Out of forty registered children, fifteen have already deserted the canteen since the price increase on Monday March 11.

Financially unbearable for parents already struggling with inflation.

“We go to 190 euros for canteens per month compared to around 90 euros.

This is colossal because on top of that there are other station fees and others.

Children are the first victims.

Some will find themselves eating alone at lunch, others will have parents who will cut back on leisure activities and outings to simply allow them to eat at lunch” laments this mother.

An agreement, signed on July 3, 2014 between the four municipalities and the Community of Municipalities, was to make it possible to implement decisions in a concerted manner.

This was not the case on February 22, 2024 when the Portes Euréliennes Community Council voted to introduce the new rate.

A fair return of things according to Stéphane Lemoine the president.

“Chartainvilliers left com'com in 2018. There is no reason for the taxpayers of Portes Euréliennes to pay for those of Chartres métropole.

This should have been reviewed since 2018, the convention has lapsed since leaving the territory” explains the elected official.

Moreover, the other member municipalities of the RPI, Saint-Piat and Mévoisins voted for this decision and Soulaires (Eure-et-Loir) abstained.

The president also advises the town hall of Chartainvilliers to finance the intercommunal part of the meal.

“Nothing prevents the town hall from taking responsibility for the differential.

If the community does not take its part, it is certain that this will mark the parents' wallets” underlines Stéphane Lemoine.

A parents' petition has more than eight hundred signatures.

Banners on two RPI sites were hung by families who still hope for a comeback from com'com.

“We are not hostile to the principle of paying a little more but not such an amount for such quality” tackles Caroline Laronze.
