The seaside stroll was cut short.
“The hold is dilapidated, I twisted my foot on it,” grumbles a resident of Aure-sur-Mer, a small new town (around 700 inhabitants) located east of Omaha Beach.
The structure - its poor condition, above all - is a symbol of the blockage which has paralyzed the village for almost three years.
The fault lies with a municipal team which only has a team in name as the rift is complete between the mayor, Alain Bauda (68 years old) and the majority of his advisors.
“From the first day, I did not have the unanimity of my council when it came time to get involved,” squeaks the mayor.
There was a crisis of confidence in the team”, with a “breaking point” occurring in the spring of 2021, less than a year after the election: “the council withdrew my delegations to award contracts.
That is to say that from now on, each purchase, from the first euro spent, must be validated by the council", explains the experienced elected official (several mandates as local and departmental elected official in Occitanie), who considers the community unmanageable in this way.
