Since the end of February, the quays of the fishing port of Guilvinec (Finistère) have taken on a completely different look: a team of around fifty film professionals has taken over the premises.
It is in this working-class setting that a terrible local story will be depicted in images which has taken an international turn: the sinking of the “Bugaled Breizh”.
It will be told in a series of six fifty-minute episodes entitled “37 Seconds”, produced by Arte and the rights to which have just been purchased by HBO.
It was in 37 seconds that this trawler from Loctudy (Finistère) mysteriously sank on January 15, 2004, off Cape Lizard, dragging its 5 professional fishermen to the bottom - Yves Gloaguen, Georges Lemétayer, Pascal Le Floch , Patrick Gloaguen, Éric Guillamet.
After years of false leads and in view of numerous elements, the civil parties now believe that this tragedy was due to an encounter with a submarine...

“This is the first time that a fiction has dealt with this matter explicitly,” slips Delphine Jouan, general coordination of filming for Bretagne Cinéma – a structure supported by the Region which supports project leaders.
“A large part of the technical team is Breton and we also note some nice supporting roles for Bretons.”
If the majority of the filming, which will end at the end of May, takes place in the Bigouden region, scenes should also be filmed in Quimper, Rennes and Brest.
This series is scheduled to be broadcast in 2025 on Arte… then on HBO.
