“I don’t know what to think about it.
It’s a form of deterrence, ok, but I wouldn’t like people to scrutinize my every move 24 hours a day when I go to have a drink on a terrace.”
Among traders and residents of Place Guérin, in Brest (Finistère), opinions are divided regarding the installation of a new generation panoramic camera in the heart of this bastion of the local extreme left.
Perched almost 6 m high on a vandal-proof reinforced metal mast, it is equipped, like the others installed mainly in the city center, with rapid proofreading software, integrated by the company Milestone and provided by the Israeli company Briefcam, a leader in cybersecurity.
“Our technical teams made this choice to cover specific needs and save time,” explains the sub-prefect of Brest, Jean-Philippe Setbon, in charge of the file.
The software integrated into these multiple (five lenses per system) and 360° cameras makes the work of investigators easier.
Instead of watching hours and hours of continuous tapes, we can enter particular criteria and this quickly produces the requested images.”
