A week of parades of allegorical floats and masks from all over Romagna and an eye on social inclusion with participation in World Autism Day: from Easter Monday to the following Sunday the "Carnival of Romagna" returns to Gambettola in the province of Forlì-Cesena from 1st to 6th April.
The 138th edition of the Carnival was presented in the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna in Bologna.
"Like every year, we have the pleasure of closely following the tradition of a festival that for centuries has been able to suspend everyday life with the magic of the reversal of roles, the sharing of moments of conviviality and the importance of knowing how to create tourism activities with great impact on territories that are lucky enough to welcome them. A ritual that the Emilia-Romagna Region has also decided to encourage with a real law, which was approved on 3 October 2022 to support the realization of these events and enhance the role they play in the community", explained the president of the Legislative Assembly Emma Petitti.
"For over a century, Carnival has marked a moment of pure celebration and joy, transforming the streets of the town into an open-air theater of masks, colors and music. The relationships undertaken in recent years have put us at the center of a dialogue with national carnivals and foreign countries which have allowed us to convey our ancient traditions, the papier-mâché school and the art of the Gambettola tank drivers. The theme of inclusion that characterizes this edition is the opportunity to celebrate diversity, promote integration and build bridges cultural and social within the communities", underlined the mayor Letizia Bisacchi.
Davide Ricci, president of the Gambettola Eventi Association, remarked that "the 138th edition, in addition to offering two parades, one daytime and one nighttime, of large moving allegorical floats, will offer a week of events, national prizes, activities for schools and for children".
"The Romagna Carnival in Gambettola is one of the great events in the area - said the director of Visit Romagna, Chiara Astolfi - both for the artistic spectacle it offers and for the international relational network it is undertaking and which enhances Romagna".
