The next playground to be remodeled will have a gender-neutral theme.

Wolfratshausen - City councilor Renate Tilke (CSU) was not very pleased about the large wooden fire engine on the renovated children's playground in Weidach.

As reported, Tilke spoke of a “macho playground” because girls would presumably not enjoy having a playful experience of the fire department theme.

Now another children's playground in the city is being redesigned.

This time the theme is farm.

With a view to gender equality, this suggestion was met with goodwill from Tilke.

The CSU city councilor received a lot of opposition for the “macho playground” – including from colleagues and firefighters.

At the Starkbierfest Singspiel, the Loisachtal farmer's stage Tilke enjoyed their comments about the fire engine.

The CSU politician was not deterred by this.

Instead, at the most recent meeting of the building committee, she praised the fact that the children's playground on Korbinianstrasse in Waldram should become an Eldorado for young farmers.

It’s “balanced,” says Tilke.

“Yes, a farm is something for girls and boys,” said the parliamentary group spokesman for the Wolfratshausen Citizens’ Association, Josef Praller, ironically.

The municipality is investing 136,000 euros in new playground equipment

In autumn 2020, the city had the old playground equipment on the southern part of the area dismantled for insurance reasons.

The north and south parts of the children's playground are to be visually connected and refurnished under the farm motto.

Planning has been underway since 2021, and an initial offer from a specialist company fell through at the beginning of this year due to exorbitant costs.

In February, a new offer was received in the town hall - the building committee unanimously decided to award the contract to the company SIK-Holzarchitekturs GmbH from Brandenburg.

The municipality is investing a good 136,500 euros in new play equipment, plus the costs for assembly and exterior design.

“Rooster”, “Hen” and the “Carrot” wobble plate are ordered

Specifically ordered are swings and the mini rockers “Rooster”, “Hen” and “Goose”, which are explicitly reserved for small children (girls and boys) up to the age of three.

The city wants to score points for three to twelve year olds with “street soccer” soccer goals – and with the “carrot” wobble plate.

A wooden climbing labyrinth, the “small combine harvester” gymnastics device and numerous spring seesaws (“horse”, “donkey”, “sheep” and “buck”) are also considered unisex play equipment.

Both girls and boys can balance on the “anteater” and the central meeting point for all genders will be the “stable” sandbox.
