A week after the excitement caused by the slaughter of two wild boars in broad daylight near buildings in Saint-Maximin, nearly 20,000 signatures

A week later, the controversy has not subsided.

Tuesday March 5, two wild boars were killed at the foot of a building in the Champignolles district, in Saint-Maximin.

If the wolf scout who killed the two animals was within his rights, the agony of a wild boar and a nursing sow filmed by a teenager moved the residents.

Especially since the shooting happened in broad daylight.

Early Thursday afternoon, a petition entitled “No to the slaughter of wild boars below our buildings in front of our children” published on the “My opinions” website collected more than 20,000 signatures*.

“We demand an end to unsecured shooting in broad daylight, at the bottom of our windows and in plain sight.

Regulation yes, but done correctly and safely for residents.

Help us prevent this from happening again,” we can read in the description of the petition initiated by residents of the town, and addressed to the mayor and prefect of Oise, as indicated on the site.

A round table next week, in the presence of the wolf scout

The fate reserved for wild pigs is also worrying.

“The 7 wild boars are left to their own devices in the neighborhood and we have not found any associations to come and catch them and release them in the forest,” the petition also indicates.

“I hope you can find a solution for these babies,” worries Mireille, a resident of the department, among the approximately 250 supportive comments posted.

Another petition launched on March 9 by the Picardie Animaux Oise association, collected 800 signatures on another site.

On the subject, a round table will be organized on Thursday March 21 at 7 p.m. in the Saint-Maximin wedding hall.

The mayor, gendarmes from Chantilly, the wolf scout and a representative of the Opac de l'Oise and the Creil Sud Oise agglomeration will be present.

Enough to ease tensions… And find a solution?
