This morning of March 14, the Ministry of the Armed Forces detailed to the press the outlines and missions of the ministerial agency for artificial intelligence in defense (Amiad).
Announced on March 8 by Minister Sébastien Lecornu in Les Echos, placed under the direct supervision of Brienne, Amiad is the cornerstone of a vast plan intended to make France the leading military power in Europe on the use of this disruptive technology.
At its head, Bertrand Rondepierre, a polytechnician who worked at Google, but whose career in artificial intelligence began within the Ministry of the Armed Forces, “at a time when the subject was not yet very popular”, specifies the 'interested.
The thirty-year-old who looks like a geek escaped from a start-up, was one of the rapporteurs of the Villani mission to the Assembly in 2017, and participated, in this capacity, in the drafting of the “national strategy for intelligence artificial” launched in 2018.
