Is this the big comeback?
Since 2014, deputies and senators no longer have the possibility of combining their national mandate with a local executive function (mayor, president of department, region or deputy).
And, since that date, parliamentarians from the right or the center have regularly attacked this law passed under the five-year term of François Hollande.
This Thursday, March 14, it is the party of Édouard Philippe – he had described non-cumulation as a “disastrous rule” – which is putting the subject back on the legislative table.
On the occasion of their niche – a day when they have control of the texts discussed – the deputies of the Horizons group in turn propose to “relax” the 2014 law. To allow parliamentarians to once again be able to combine their seats with a deputy function.
But not with a position of mayor or president of a local authority.
