Highlights: Next week, the National Assembly examines in committee a bill aimed at better informing consumers in restaurants. Supported by the majority, it was born from discussions with star chefs like Philippe Etchebest. The idea is to further highlight the know-how of the cooks. For this, the text intends to make the mention “not homemade” obligatory on the menu, for all dishes which have not been transformed in the restaurant's kitchen. Good news for fans of “Top Chef”, whose show has just resumed on television: next week, MPs will focus on the gastronomic quality of our restaurants.

A bill “aimed at establishing transparency in the manufacturing of dishes served in restaurants” will be examined on March 20 in committee and on March 25 in session.

This involves informing the customer that their lasagna or semi-cooked lasagna has simply been defrosted before being served.

The “homemade” label already exists, but it is little used because it is optional.
