Former Bild boss Julian Reichelt is running a campaign against the Greens.
The party complains about false information and warned Reichelt.
Now a court is examining the case for the first time.
Berlin – A dispute between Julian Reichelt's media portal
Nius
and the Greens is escalating.
Reichelt regularly portrays the Greens as a political enemy and campaigns against the party.
Now, from the Greens' perspective, he went a step too far.
The ex-Bild boss accused the Greens of setting up a political police force at their party headquarters that would take action against political dissidents.
The party then warned Reichelt.
She asked him to delete what she considered to be false messages and to submit a cease and desist declaration.
As
IPPEN.MEDIA
has learned, Reichelt missed the deadline.
The party has now handed the case over to the judiciary - a first-of-its-kind process.
Reichelt against the Greens: Accusation of a political police on Nius
The reason for the ongoing examination by the Hamburg Regional Court is Reichelt's reporting on the “PolizeiGrün” association in February.
In several articles, posts on
Reichelt drew comparisons to a politically motivated police force during the National Socialist era.
In fact, “PolizeiGrün” is a legally, personally and financially independent association.
Its members are police officers.
As the club name “PolizeiGreen” suggests, they are close to the Greens.
However, this is nothing unusual.
There are a large number of professional groups that come together as associations and are close to parties.
For example, the SPD has the “Social Democrats in the Police,” while the Union has several internal police working groups in which officers sit.
These associations often state the party headquarters as the address in their legal notice.
Reichelt cited this at “PolizeiGrün” as an argument for his claim of the political police.
Reichelt did not talk about the other party-affiliated clubs in his contributions.
Nius
is an online news portal that Reichelt
founded after he was fired from
Bild .
In it he claims to be “the voice of the majority”.
In the media spectrum , Nius
is
often assigned to the right-wing conservative or right-wing populist spectrum.
The portal is financed by the controversial investor Frank Gotthardt.
Julian Reichelt makes Nazi comparisons against the “Green Police”.
Nius
' campaign caused
great anger in the Green Party.
The Nazi comparison in particular is perceived as a distortion of the public debate.
“Criticism – even harsh criticism – is part of the discourse and we face it,” says a press spokeswoman about the Reichelt case.
“False information intended to distort the public debate and deceive the public damages the discourse.” The party therefore warned Reichelt and called for the articles and videos to be deleted.
She demanded that
Nius
submit a cease and desist declaration by March 5th.
However, this did not happen: “The requested cease and desist declaration was not submitted by NIUS and Julian Reichelt,” sources at the party headquarters of Alliance 90/The Greens told
IPPEN.MEDIA
.
Instead, the ex- Bild
boss published
the draft of the application for an interim injunction addressed to him on X.
Green Party as enemy image for “Nius” and Reichelt
Since Reichelt and
Nius
did not respond to the demand, the Greens are now turning to the judiciary.
This is the first time the party has taken legal action against the news portal.
The application for an injunction was sent to the Hamburg regional court, which is now examining whether Reichelt's reporting on the “PolizeiGrün” association justifies the party's claim for injunctive relief.
It is still unclear when the court will decide.
However, a prompt response is expected.
How Reichelt and his portal
Nius
deal with the case remains unclear.
Nius
did not respond to a request from our editorial team
.
In addition to the lack of response to the cease and desist request, Reichelt has not yet deleted the content with the distorting reporting about the Green Party.
