With its sights set on the wave of drug violence that is hitting the province of Santa Fe, with its epicenter in Rosario, the Government announced the creation of an "anti-mafia unit" to combat organized crime.
Through a Resolution of the Ministry of National Security, signed by its head, Minister Patricia Bullrich, it seeks to promote a comprehensive and multi-agency approach to fight against narcoterrorism.
The "Anti-Mafia Unit" will have the participation of the Special Anti-Mafia Investigation Group (GEIA) and a Table for the Evaluation of Organized Crime of Mafia Action (MECOAM) with the purpose of strengthening prevention and investigation actions and strategies.
It will be within the scope of the Secretariat for the Fight Against Narcotics and Organized Security Crime and its owner will be appointed by Minister Bullrich, it was reported through an official report.
The resolution also invites the Drug Crime Prosecutor's Office (PROCUNAR) and the Specialized Prosecutor's Unit in Organized Crime (UFECO) to join the Organized Crime Evaluation Table of Mafia Action, both dependent on the Public Prosecutor's Office.
