Hermann Wackerl from Altomünster died at the age of 85.

Altomünster – Hermann Wackerl was able to celebrate his 85th birthday just a few weeks ago.

Now it's time to say goodbye to the cheerful, humorous and almost always laughing native of Stumpfenbach.

A battle with cancer left him no time to continue sharing joys and sorrows with his wife Hilde - as he had been able to do for 60 years.

The two celebrated their diamond wedding in December together with their two children Susanne and Robert and their three grandchildren, to whom all the sympathy now belongs.

Next Monday, March 18th, the funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. in the Altomünster parish church, followed by the burial at the cemetery.

One thing is certain: Hermann Wackerl was a teacher with heart and soul, a person who got involved, organized and didn't wait long until the green light came from somewhere.

That's how it felt for him after his traineeship, which he completed in Lower Franconia and then in the small village school in Pichl, where he was employed.

He was pleased that as “Mr. Löhrer” he was able to win over the entire village, who helped get the school system going there.

When the school was closed, he was appointed headmaster in Aindling and then headmaster of Alsmoos.

“I always enjoyed being a teacher,” he claimed.

And you could understand that too.

With his style, he always quickly found access to the students and promoted their knowledge and skills.

When he reached retirement age, he returned to Altomünster with his family and built a home in which he lived with his Hilde until the end.

In his free time he supported the museum association and the Vhs with the literature readings, which he lightened up with many songs that he played on his accordion and which the listeners were happy to join in with.

Music was a part of him anyway - or traveling.

But one thing will always be remembered by all his friends and relatives: his joy of life, his sense of humor and, above all, the many stories he was able to tell from his school days.
