Opposite the Edgar-Quinet elementary school in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis), the street this Thursday bears the scars of the death of a young man on a scooter which occurred the previous evening.
The hood of the white van into which the two-wheeler crashed is depressed.
The sidewalk is littered with vehicle debris.
A thick flow of blood continues to flow along the roadway, despite some gravel placed to hide it.
On Wednesday, around 8:30 p.m., “a scooter ridden by a driver and his passenger refused a police check and fled, committing multiple traffic violations,” indicates the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office in a press release released at the end of the morning.

The two helmeted men were then pursued by the BAC of La Courneuve.
“According to the testimonies collected, the driver of the BAC crew was forced to swerve to avoid a vehicle which did not respect a priority and collided with the scooter which was coming in the opposite direction,” adds the prosecution.
“I heard a big boom and I immediately understood that there was an accident,” explains a mustached local resident.
On the other hand, I didn't hear any sirens and I didn't leave my house.
» Many people chose to go and see.
“I saw a lot of people outside from my window,” says a retiree.
The police quickly blocked the road.

“The scooter was really smashed”
Rafik, a neighbor, had the sad surprise of witnessing the scene when he returned home.
“I was with a friend, we were coming back from prayer after breaking our fast,” he says.
The scooter was smashed, in several pieces on the side of the road.
The helmet was 30 meters away, the violence of the impact must have been terrible.
» The numerous pieces of debris on both sides of the road lend credence to the testimony.

Some residents did not hear the sound of the collision.
“There’s so much noise in the street that we don’t even pay attention anymore,” sighs a lady as she leaves for the market.
The sound alarms did not leave the neighborhood indifferent.
“I got home at 8:38 p.m. and there were a lot of sirens in addition to police tape,” says a young man.
The road was still blocked at midnight by a law enforcement truck.

This Thursday morning, at the scene of the accident, some discovered what happened.
“I heard the information on the radio but I had no idea that it had happened in front of my house,” confides a man in his thirties.
I am in shock.
» For all the residents met, this new tragedy linked to a refusal to comply is “all the more unfortunate as they are often young people,” adds Rafik.
When the police stop you, you have to stop.
It avoids this type of drama.
