In the spring of 2025, Peißenberg's southern district of “Wörth” could be completely protected against a hundred-year flood (HQ 100).

This point in time was mentioned at the most recent market council meeting.

Until then, the program still includes water improvements on the Stadelbach.

– Slowly but steadily, the mammoth “Intra-Local Flood Protection” project is making progress – at least as far as the Wörth district is concerned.

Work on the rain retention basin on Hochreuther Straße is in its final stages.

“I think we will finally be finished this spring,” said Thomas Schamper, the municipal civil engineering department manager, at the market council meeting.

The Stadel and Wörthersbach have been running over the barrage since autumn 2023.

What is still missing are electronic equipment components such as switchgear, video surveillance and measurement technology.

The farm roads also still need to be completed, planting and greening work carried out and the cycle path along the south side of the basin still needs to be created.

Some things are still missing

As Schamper reported in an interview with the local newspaper, the basin will not only protect the southern part of the town and especially the shopping park on the former PKG site.

According to the latest hydraulic calculations, the barrier is also expected to have a greater effect on flood protection in the northern district of “Dorf” than originally assumed.

However, valid data will only be available after the official commissioning.

The flood protection for Wörth will ultimately be completed by the expansion of the water on the Stadelbach in Schachtstraße and Unterbaustraße.

The implementation planning is currently being drawn up by a specialist office.

“I hope that by spring 2025 we will have flood-free Peißenberg-Süd.

In any case, I’m an optimist,” said Schamper, outlining the schedule in the market council.

The water expansion along the two streets will cost around 1.2 million euros.

The Free State of Bavaria is promising 50 percent funding.

The local council commissioned the town hall administration to submit the corresponding application for funding - including an application for the early start of the measures.

However, the latter does not yet give a legal right to funding.

A circumstance that raised questions in the market council.

But market treasurer Michael Liedl pointed out that similar procedures had been followed in other large projects, such as various construction projects at local schools.

The status of “early start of measures” is a formality.

The town hall administration firmly assumes that the funding will flow to the extent hoped for.

When construction will begin is still unclear

And what about “Peißenberg-Nord flood protection”?

The plan approval process was opened in June 2023 for the water expansions on the Wörthersbach along Bachstrasse and the bypass piping and the transfer channel over Schellhammergasse and Iblherstrasse.

The date for the discussion will be set soon.

According to reports, not all property owners, particularly on Iblherstrasse, agree with the plans.

When construction work can begin is currently unclear.

Internally, an appointment is expected to take place in five years at the earliest.

You will have to wait even longer for the retention basin on the Fendter Bach.

The approval planning is currently being drawn up.

And last but not least, the transfer channel from the Buchaugraben to the future rain retention basin on the Fendter Bach is on the agenda.

However, approval planning should only begin after the plan approval process for the basin has been completed.
