The United Nations will set up an
“air bridge”
between Haiti and the neighboring Dominican Republic to allow
“the fluidity of humanitarian aid”
to the country in crisis, the UN mission in Haiti announced on X.
“The United Nations in Haiti is working to set up an air bridge with the Dominican Republic for the fluidity of aid and the movement of its personnel
,” said the mission, specifying that part of the personnel would be temporarily resettled

Gang-related violence
On Monday, Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry, challenged and facing a wave of gang violence in his country, agreed to resign.
For several weeks, Port-au-Prince has been sinking deeper into gang-related violence.
The capital is the scene of clashes between police and armed gangs, who attack strategic sites such as the presidential palace, police stations and prisons.
More than 360,000 displaced
A sign that the situation remains complex, Kenya has decided to suspend the planned sending of police officers to Haiti as part of an international mission supported by the UN.
According to the International Organization for Migration, 362,000 people are currently displaced in Haiti.
The European Union, which evacuated all of its staff from Haiti, announced on Wednesday humanitarian aid of 20 million euros to the country due to the
“unprecedented level of gang violence”
