Grandparents taking lessons from their grandchildren to learn how to use technology, the use of the computer and the potential of the cell phone.
The initiative is part of a project built by the Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei of Ancona, in collaboration with the pensioners' unions Spi Cgil, FnpCisl, Uilp: it involves all the pupils of the fourth classes which involves the implementation of various community service activities.
Among these, a group of students will manage a laboratory to introduce grandparents (their own or those of the city) to technology.
These are three meetings in the high school premises and include an intragenerational tutoring activity for adults and elderly people on the use of computers and smartphones.
In particular, the students will guide their grandparents in activating an email account, which can also be used for video conferences, and will teach them how to use some apps of interest, such as Whatsapp, Facebook, applications for downloading audio books and music or apps for commercial use.
A way to bring two generations "only apparently distant - we read in a note from the school - and to thus bridge a gap that should not exist" even closer.
About thirty kids were involved.
The meetings, underlines the manager Alessandra Rucci - "are open to all grandparents in Ancona, regardless of whether their grandchildren are enrolled in the Scientific School. I would like to invite all grandparents to participate in this important initiative which brings generations closer together and which is open to the whole community. Those who are not directly grandparents of the school's pupils, but their acquaintances, can also register."
Anyone wishing to participate can choose the March or April meeting cycle. The March one includes meetings from 9am to 12pm on the 19th, 20th and 22nd. The April one is from 9am to 12pm on the 9th, 10th and 12th of April.
