After the separation from Christian Jürgens, there should finally be a new start in the Überfahrt restaurant: Cornelia Fischer (39) will be the new head chef here in the future.
Rottach-Egern
- From September 6th, regular operations will resume at the Überfahrt restaurant in Rottach-Egern.
As the Althoff Hotel Group announced on Thursday (March 14th), Cornelia Fischer will be leading the gourmet restaurant as the new head chef from this point onwards.
The 39-year-old was named “Chef of the Year 2024” by the Schlemmer Atlas last year.
The search for a successor for Christian Jürgens, from whom the Hotel Überfahrt separated after serious allegations of harassment became known, was apparently not easy.
After the guest appearance of the Berlin culinary artist The Duc Ngo ended in November of last year, the Althoff Group announced that the restaurant would initially only be open for a few gourmet weekends with guest chefs.
But now a new head chef, Cornelia Fischer, has been hired.
Cornelia Fischer has already worked on the crossing once
“We are very proud to welcome Cornelia Fischer back to our Althoff family,” Benedikt Jaschke, COO of Althoff Hotels, is quoted as saying in the press release.
She was part of the Restaurant Überfahrt team from 2015 to 2018 - “and in late autumn last year we agreed to redesign the future of the Überfahrt restaurant together,” says Jaschke.
New head of the crossing received the title “Chef of the Year”
According to the press release, the 39-year-old, who has worked in Volkach, Franconia for the past three years, has already worked in many first-class kitchens in Germany and Switzerland.
After her first engagement at the Überfahrt restaurant as chef de partie, she worked as sous chef for three-star chef Andreas Caminada in Switzerland for two years.
The native of Lower Franconia moved back home from Graubünden in 2021 and, as head chef at the Hotel Zur Schwane, she was responsible for two restaurants, including the “Weinstock”, which was awarded a Michelin star.
Last year, Cornelia Fischer was named “Chef of the Year 2024” by Schlemmer Atlas.
“Modern regional cuisine” will be the focus of the crossing
Fischer himself says: “I’m really looking forward to coming back to the beautiful Überfahrt and being able to fill the restaurant with a new concept and life.” Vincent Ludwig, Managing Director of the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, adds: “We have excellent memories of Cornelia Fischer and from our point of view she is currently one of the greatest culinary talents in German-speaking countries.
It focuses on modern regional cuisine and is refreshingly cosmopolitan.
Our guests can look forward to top-class culinary experiences.
The focus will be on local products, some even from our own cultivation.”
