The Congress of Deputies has approved, with 178 votes in favor and 172 against, the amnesty law for those accused of the Catalan sovereignty
process
, agreed between the Government and the independence parties.
The norm will now go to the Senate where, predictably, it will be rejected by the absolute majority of the PP.
It will then return to the Lower House for final approval.
Junts spokesperson, Míriam Nogueras, stated after the vote: “It is not a final point.
We continue.
The goal remains independence.”
Previously, the socialist Patxi López has defended that the norm seeks to “end the time of confrontation and open the time of reconciliation and encounter.”
And the popular leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, responded: “This is not reconciliation, it is submission.”
The session, attended by the leader of ERC, Oriol Junqueras, takes place just one day after the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, brought forward the elections in Catalonia to May 12, upon seeing his budget rejected.
This Thursday, Junts and ERC have exchanged reproaches for the responsibility of the advance.

This time, yes.
Congress approved this Thursday by an absolute majority the amnesty bill with 178 votes in favor of PSOE, Sumar, Podemos, ERC, PNV, EH Bildu, Junts and BNG.
The norm now begins a tortuous path in the Senate, where the PP intends to torpedo its processing with appearances by legal experts contrary to the text, and the dissemination of reports on its content by the lawyers of the upper house, appointed by the popular ones. .
The Venice Commission will resolve in parallel this Friday its final opinion on the initiative in a plenary session in which the president of the Senate, the popular Pedro Rollán, will intervene, who will present allegations to the draft released a few days ago and which the Government has boasted about.
The final stretch of the processing of the amnesty law and its vote in the Upper House will also coincide with the Catalan election campaign on May 12.
“This law will not pass the filter of the Senate,” declared the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in the gallery.

Junts maintains that Sánchez and Aragonès agreed on early elections to prevent Puigdemont's candidacy

The political and legal objective of Junts, Carles Puigdemont's party, is now for the former Catalan president to be able to attend in person, as he wishes, to the investiture session of the new president of Catalonia who emerges from the May 12 elections, a session which could take place in mid-July, according to its forecasts.
But in Junts they do not have it all with them and they doubt the intentions and behavior of all the other parties, and in particular of their rivals from ERC and the PSOE.
Sources from the Junts leadership and Puigdemont's defense have even expressed their conclusion that the current Catalan president, Pere Aragonés, and the Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, "have coordinated their agendas" to anticipate these elections and "prevent "the escaped leader of Justice can present himself as a candidate in those elections."
Puigdemont's defense, who closed the agreement on the law with the PSOE, does not contemplate that any judge refuses to apply the benefits of the rule to anyone, although he says he has planned all the scenarios and resources.
