With a practiced hand: Mayor Falk Sluyterman taps into the Fastinator.

The tradition of drinking strong beer during Lent has been around for a long time.
“This goes back to the monks in the Middle Ages, who brewed a stronger beer for fasting;
“It was nutritious and made Lent more bearable,” explained master brewer Stephan Albrecht at the tapping in the Schongau brewery.
Schongau – The house was full, and numerous representatives from local politics and society also came.
When, shortly after 7 p.m., Mayor Falk Sluyterman got the “Fastinator,” a light Doppelbock with 7.9 percent alcohol content, flowing with three shots, it was clear to Albrecht: “Now it’s strong beer time.”
Lenten sermon: “Brother Cengiz” about Schongau
Then, as in 2023, Lent preacher “Brother Cengiz” came on stage.
Cengiz Öztunc, as the cabaret artist and comedian's real name is, once again exposed everyone who “deserved it” or was “important enough to be mentioned”.
He gave a picturesque account of his ideas about how the city of Schongau might have functioned in the Middle Ages.
The beer queen as ruler of the empire?
Wouldn't that be nice?
And while some anecdotes about the “Lippmann Hospital at the gas station” part-time job caused laughter, the promotion of gifted students also played a role.
“We have many talented people in Schongau,” said the Lenten preacher.
“For example, Blum Daniel from the SPD, or Daniel Blum from the CSU.
And soon Dani Blum from the UWV will also be joining the race.”
The Lenten sermon can be listened to on YouTube under “BrauhausTV”.
