Erding – The reading competition for the sixth grade is taking place for the 65th time this year.

It is organized every year by the German Book Trade Association in collaboration with bookstores, libraries, schools and cultural institutions and is under the patronage of the Federal President.

This year's district winner and school winner of the 6 participating middle schools is Leona Moana Leiking from the Oberding/Aufkirchen Montessori School, who wrote an excerpt from “Andro, top secret!

– Error message: School” by Kai Pannen.

A total of 13 students from the district took part and measured themselves in reading aloud with a familiar and a foreign text.

The standard was exceptionally high and the 5-member jury found it difficult to choose a winner.

Of the 3 participating high schools in the district, Jakob Hörmann from the Korbinian-Aigner-Gymnasium ("Animox - The Howl of the Wolves" / Aimée Carter) was identified and of the 4 participating secondary schools, Sadaf Mohammadi from the Heilig Blut Erding girls' secondary school had outstanding reading quality (“Blooming Fantasy”/Diane Karlstrom) came off as the best.

The jury consisted of Petra Bauernfeind, district councilor & 2nd mayor, Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer (press spokeswoman for the district office), Ingrid Müller-Heß (library manager), Florian Tempel from the Süddeutsche Zeitung and school councilor Stephan Rettig.
