A year after opening, the shops and almost all apartments in BGZ2 are rented.
What is true about the rumors about a possible move by Aldi?

– A year ago on March 9th, Aldi and Rossmann opened their stores in the Neue Mitte.
A nail salon, a boutique and a post office complete the offering in BGZ2, which was built by the Geretsried building cooperative (BG).
According to managing director Wolfgang Selig, all commercial units and almost all of the 90 apartments are now rented.
Will Aldi stay in Neue Mitte or will the discounter move back to Banater Straße?
When asked by our newspaper, the company commented on this rumor.
Gastronomy moves in next to Rossmann
In addition to beacons, there are currently construction fences and a container in front of the residential and commercial building on Egerlandstrasse - renovation work is underway on the first floor and ground floor.
Selig explains that a 110 square meter office unit that has not yet been rented is currently being converted into two smaller ones.

Selig cannot give an opening date.

There has been an automatic post office in BGZ 2 since the beginning of the year.
Postage and parcel stamps can be purchased and parcels can be posted and received.
A mailbox is also integrated into the station.
“The post office approached us and we were happy to take it up,” reports the Geretsrieder.
Selig sees this as a good addition to the post office counter at Edeka on Karl-Lederer-Platz.
Utilization of the underground car park could be better
However, there is still room for improvement when it comes to utilization of the underground car park, which has 217 parking spaces available.
“This is a long-term process,” states Selig.
However, a noticeable increase was achieved through optimization measures - such as better signage underground.
In addition, other retailers would participate in reimbursement of parking fees.
Two shell renovations are pending
The Geretsried building cooperative (BG) is constantly renovating old buildings.
This year, renovation work is planned on Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Weg and Sperlingstrasse.
The renovation of the shell of the houses at Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Weg 13 to 21 is scheduled to begin in just a few weeks.
According to BG managing director Wolfgang Selig, the three-story buildings are around 60 years old.
You will receive new thermal insulation, new plastic windows and larger balconies.
Fire protection is also being upgraded and expanded.
The outdoor facilities are on the cooperative’s to-do list.
The BG is starting the fourth construction phase at Johannisplatz this year.
The residential buildings at Sperlingstrasse 20 to 24 will also receive a new building shell.
“Everything that affects us to the east of the church will then be renovated,” says Selig.
A total of 100 apartments will be brought into shape by the end of the year.
The BG plans to start working on its houses west of the Catholic church from 2025 onwards.
Selig estimates that almost 200 apartments there need to be renovated.

A concept is being developed for the currently closed toilets
The public toilets in the underground car park were only open for a few months and the conditions there were disgusting.
Only the toilet for people with disabilities is accessible with a Euro key.
According to Selig, there was a discussion with the city about how to proceed; it operates the toilets.
This is confirmed by the city's press spokesman, Thomas Loibl.

Greenery is still missing in the New Center
BG managing director Selig is critical of the entrance situation in the B11/Town Hall area and on the corner of Egerlandstraße/Fasanenweg.
The city has erected red and white beacons and barrier chains there.
They would make the whole thing look more like a construction site and give drivers an uninviting feeling.
Selig is also focusing on greenery, which is still missing on Egerlandstrasse.
Only when the green is in place will advertising measures for the New Center make sense in his eyes.
Nevertheless, he believes that it will take at least 2026 before the underground car park is accepted as the owners - the building cooperative, the savings bank and the Krämmel company - want.
Aldi customers appreciate spacious parking spaces
Selig does not want to comment on rumors that Aldi may turn its back on Neue Mitte and move back to Banater Straße.
But Aldi provided information about this when asked by our newspaper.
The company confirms that the branch in Neue Mitte will remain open.
“The new underground car park has been well received by customers,” a spokeswoman said in writing.
“Above all, they appreciate the clarity and the spacious parking spaces.” The company leaves unanswered the question of whether Aldi customers avoid the branch on Egerlandstrasse and prefer the discounter on Sudetenstrasse.
