A revised project and... very little corrected.
The City of Paris presented this Thursday, March 14 in the morning, the main lines of the redevelopment of the Place du Trocadéro (16th century) and the Pont d'Iéna, in the heart of Paris.
With a guideline that remains the same: partially pedestrianize these two sites with strong tourist appeal to “free them from intense automobile traffic”, as recalled by the socialist mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
Main change compared to the last version presented: “Reducing the vegetation on the Pont d’Iéna”.
The City still wishes to pedestrianize the center of this structure — “used by 50,000 pedestrians every day” — and create two shared lanes on either side, dedicated to bicycles, buses, taxis and emergency vehicles.
But there is no longer any question of planting trees directly in the ground.
Planting containers must now line this axis which connects the foot of the Trocadéro to the Eiffel Tower.
Removable arrangements which should, among other things, allow less weight to be placed on the deck.
