According to Telegram channels, such as those of Astra and Baza, Russian media close to the intelligence services, Robertus was found dead,
hanging in the bathroom of his office,
in what would appear to be a suicide.
"The manager committed suicide and died of asphyxiation. He had worked for the company for 30 years," Baza said on Telegram.
In October 2023, Lukoil announced that CEO Vladimir Nekrasov
had died of heart failure at the age of 66.
Another former top Lukoil executive, Alexander Subbotin, was found dead in May 2022, while in September of the same year state media reported that President Ravil Maganov had died after falling from a hospital window in Moscow.
