It is an incomplete list which was ratified by members of the French Communist Party last weekend.
Only 75 candidates for the European elections out of the regulatory 81 appear in the press release sent to the press on Monday.
Six names are still missing.
From ninth place, considered eligible by the party, the eye falls on a mysterious
“XXXXXX candidate”
, followed by five others a little further on.

Impossible to know who it is.
The head of the list, Léon Deffontaines, refused to lift the veil in front of journalists.
He simply gave a broad smile full of ulterior motives to the national secretary of the PCF, Fabien Roussel, before declaring:
“We want to take advantage of this European campaign to bring together even more widely, including on the left.
So we leave the door open.”
Alongside Léon Deffontaines, Emmanuel Maurel, MEP elected on the Insoumise list in 2019, adds:
“The rally is far from over.”
