The High Court of Justice issued a conditional order today (Thursday) and stated that the state must explain why Education Minister Yoav Kish decided to cancel the Israel Prize this year. According to the order, Kish will be required to answer by March 21 why his decision to cancel the Israel Prize will not be revoked, after the allegations according to which the prize was canceled following the apparent winning of Eyal Waldman.

"In view of the pressing time frame, and in order to be able to agree to the relief requested in the petitions and to distribute the Israel Prizes for this year as originally determined at the Independence Day ceremony on May 14 - we decided to order a conditional order" , wrote judges Yitzhak Amit, Ofer Grosskopf and Alex Stein in the decision. According to the decision, the petitioners' arguments will be submitted until March 26.

The chairman of Tikva Khadasha - the state right, Minister Gideon Sa'ar, responded to the High Court's decision: "The court gave the Minister of Education one last chance to withdraw from an illegitimate and outrageous decision and prevent damage to Independence Day and to an important enterprise that sanctifies excellence, science and culture in Israel. It's a shame that it has come to this It is better to correct a mistake than to be fortified by mistake."
