The local council sets the first course for the Warngau solar park

2024-03-14T06:12:33.760Z

Highlights: The local council sets the first course for the Warngau solar park. Around 5,016 solar modules could be installed on the 3.2 hectares with a total output of around 3 megawatts (MW) This could generate around 3,560 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually - enough to cover almost a quarter of the community's consumption. The investment amount is estimated at 2.3 million euros. An agri-PV system is planned: the meadow under the up to 3.50 meter high modular tables will continue to be used for agriculture.

There are plans for an open-space photovoltaic system near Einhaus: a consortium of operators is planning the “Warngau Solar Park” there. The community and local citizens should also benefit.

Warngau

– Slightly larger than the system in Greiling and with more yield, but far less prominently placed: The “Warngau Solar Park” near Einhaus could convert the sun into electricity in the future.

The Warngau local council set the first course for the major project on Tuesday evening.

More sun in the renewable energy mix

Warngau is not doing badly: in the seven days up to yesterday, 106 percent of the electricity demand in the community was covered by local renewable sources, according to the Bayernwerk energy monitor.

This balance is thanks to a foundation of hydropower.

Solar power could soon play a much larger role: the “Warngau Solar Park” is planned near Einhaus.

The plans are still in their early stages - the vision is in the flesh at the gates of Bad Tölz on the B472: the Greiling open-space PV system, which the municipality realized there with the companies Energie Südbayern (ESB) and 17er Oberlandenergie, a GmbH of the municipal utilities Murnau and the municipal utilities of Bad Tölz, Geretsried, Penzberg and Wolfratshausen as well as over 30 communities in the Oberland.

The facility in Warngau would even be slightly larger than the one in Greiling, but would be placed much less prominently on the edge of the forest at the foot of the Taubenberg.

The investment amount is estimated at 2.3 million euros

Adolf Hornsteiner, former mayor of Mittenwald and now an employee of ESB, as well as Klaus Hochwind, sales manager of 17er Oberlandenergie, as representatives of a consortium that has yet to be founded, presented the project, which they have already leased in cooperation with the owner family and with technology from the Lower Bavarian Solea AG Want to realize property near Einhaus.

Estimated investment amount: 2.3 million euros.

Agri-PV system could cover almost a quarter of Warngau's electricity needs

Around 5,016 solar modules could be installed on the 3.2 hectares with a total output of around 3 megawatts (MW).

This could generate around 3,560 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually - enough to cover almost a quarter of Warngau's consumption and supply an average of 1,000 three-person households.

Mathematically, this would save 1,575 tons of CO2.

An agri-PV system is planned: The meadow under the up to 3.50 meter high modular tables will continue to be used for agriculture, with grazing by young cattle and mowing twice a year.

For the time being, electricity storage only appears as an option in the planning;

the options are still too uneconomical.

Network operator Bayernwerk promised ESB a grid entry point 650 meters away for the solar park - an issue that would have made a project in the neighboring municipality of Gmund uneconomical, as local councilors Josef Gschwendtner and Stefan Rank (both FWG) warned.

In order to be able to apply for the binding commitment, says Hornsteiner, you first need the decision to draw up a development plan that will create building rights for the project.

According to Hornsteiner, the outdoor area is in the landscape protection area and requires an exemption from the district.

Value creation should remain in the region

The aim is to leave the added value in the region.

The future consortium has in mind citizen participation, in which – as a first in Warngau – citizens can subscribe to interest-bearing shares.

The operating company for the “Warngau solar park”, which has yet to be founded, will have its headquarters in the municipality, which can therefore hope to receive trade tax.

The Agri-PV project was an open door in the local council.

The community even encouraged interested landowners to get in touch.

The area near Einhaus was reported for the district's PV open space register, reported Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG).

“I like the concept that citizens can also participate,” said the town hall boss.

“I can really imagine that.” The vast majority of the committee agreed with this.

Against the vote of Anton Bader (FWG), who did not comment, the local council made the decision to start the building process for the project.
