The world of puppets is far from being limited to Guignol who tries to escape the police.
This is what the public will discover if they go to the Massy opera house in the coming days.
From March 15 to 17, the first puppet festival in Essonne will be held there.
An event that aims to be “intergenerational” organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Daru-Thempô company, based in Ollainville.
And which also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Champs de la Marionette which brings together 15 towns in the department each year.
On the program of course, shows accessible to the youngest, some from the age of 3 like “Victor, the wild child”, a body shadow theater which evokes the capacity of children to adapt to a wild world thanks to their imagination and lightness.
But it is above all an immersion in the world of puppets that this festival offers.
Handling and behind-the-scenes tour
First with an exhibition freely accessible in the hall of the Massy opera house entitled “Daru, the puppet in good company”.
Daru-Thempô's creations since 1973 are presented there in a fascinating setting.
“At the end of the performances, stageside meetings may take place between the spectators and the puppeteers,” indicates the Massy opera.
With demonstrations, explanations, manipulations and even behind-the-scenes tours.

This first edition aims to show the diversity of genres, contemporary or traditional.
“No exhaustive pretension but the ambition to allow the discovery of the art of puppetry, often poorly known, continues Massy's opera.
Bunraku type puppets, animated forms made from contemporary materials and objects, shadow theater, Chinese glove puppets, string puppets... » A first edition which should be renewed if the public responds.
