Beijing responds.
The day after a vote in the American Congress which reinforces the threat of a ban in the United States on the TikTok application, China assured Thursday that it would take “all necessary measures” to defend its companies.
“The United States must (…) stop pressure intended to unfairly exclude foreign companies” from their market, criticized a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
On Thursday, the US House of Representatives passed a bill that requires the network to cut its ties with China, in the name of national security.
The voted text “places the United States in the opposite direction to the principle of fair competition and to international rules on economics and trade,” declared Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the press. and denounces “thug methods”.
