The city of Erding has approved two building applications for new asylum accommodation.

One of them is quite close to the city center.

It's not the first.

Erding - There are currently 76 accommodations in the city of Erding that accommodate refugees.

As has been reported several times, two larger projects are being planned or under construction: on Berghamer Straße in Aufhausen and on Landgestütstraße in the city center.

The city council's planning and construction committee announced on Tuesday evening that building permits had been issued for two additional accommodations: at Freisinger Straße 71 next to the former employment office and at Kletthamer Feld 20, not far from the Geowärme Association.

Both applications were approved through the authorities.

There should be fewer than 20 places on Freisinger Straße and around 140 on Kletthamer Feld, said Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) when asked by our newspaper.

However, it is not yet certain whether both new buildings will be built.

In this context, the mayor renewed his criticism, “because there is still nothing moving forward at the air base.”

As is well known, the city, district, government of Upper Bavaria and the Ministry of the Interior are putting pressure on people to open some of the former crew accommodation for asylum seekers.

The federal government initially resisted, citing the Bundeswehr, but ultimately justified its rejection with the poor condition of the properties.

However, as reported, an on-site visit revealed something else.

What angers Gotz: “The federal government says it is doing what it can and working quickly.

I can’t see that in Erding.” ham
