Designed in the 1960s by Marcel Breuer, an architectural figure of the Bauhaus, at the request of the Boissonnas couple, Flaine still stands as a reference for modernist architecture in the Alps.
The vintage character of the resort does not displease the art of living of the moment.
Located at an altitude of 1600 meters in the heart of a natural cirque, Flaine can count on almost guaranteed snow throughout the season.
Its “all-pedestrian” organization ensures ski-in/ski-out departure and return on the 146 km of slopes.
Attached to the Grand Massif area, it also stands out as one of the best ski spots of this importance, closest to Paris, Geneva and Lyon.
After 55 years, the architectural complex has not aged a bit and even continues to give rise to architectural challenges.

Our good restaurants in Flaine
The Bauhaus
Located on the ground floor of the Alhena hotel, Le Bauhaus benefits from a unique location on the forum.
Having become an après-ski spot in a very short time, the address also offers a generous and gourmet menu that suits the warm and comfortable atmosphere: pâté en croute, 7-hour lamb, braised beef cheek or another nice seafood menu.

The pizzeria Chez Lili
Located at the back of the forum, the pizzas at Chez Lili have nothing to envy of those of our transalpine neighbors.
The slow fermentation of the dough gives it a delicious puffiness that will immediately transport you to…Naples.
Be careful, no more than twenty places… but possibility of takeaway pizzas.
Pizza from €10.

Located in Flaine Forêt, this bistro (with terrace) has taken the initiative of taking you on a journey through your plate.
Here, people come to eat raclette as much as chicken curry, a burger as spicy eggplant.
All the dishes, rather generous, are entirely home-cooked.
Card: €25.

The Merry Flainoise
At the foot of the Aup de Véran cable car, this table respects the early modernist aesthetic, with its stripped-down decor, its vintage furniture and its faux-Dubuffet fresco.
We come here for a board to share as an aperitif or to make local Diot tricks, a roasted Val d'Arly fondant or even a Savoyard crust.
Note that vegetarians will not be left out with a spelled risotto, a “veggie burger” or a large plate of vegetables.
Card: €20-30.

Flaine tourist office
If we talk a lot about architecture in Flaine, modern and contemporary art is also there, notably through a set of sculptures located in the public space of the station (Picasso, Dubuffet, Vasarely, Bury… ).
In addition, Sylvie Boissonnas had wanted to create an art center since 1970.
Still in operation, the structure regularly offers exhibitions, library services as well as guided tours of Flaine.
