The tourism association will celebrate its 75th anniversary on August 10th together with the village shop, which has been around for 25 years.

A “griaby get-together” is planned, similar to the one for the village shop’s 20th birthday.

The Jachenau Tourism Association turns 75 this year and is full of plans.

In addition to a regional cookbook, this also includes a bike service station.

Jachenau

– The Jachenau Tourism Association is entering its anniversary year with many plans.

The highlight is the 75th anniversary celebration on August 10th.

In addition, the members discussed a number of other projects at the most recent annual meeting: from publishing a Jachenau cookbook to setting up a bicycle service station.

The tourism association's board team consists of chairwoman Nina Oswald, her deputy Peter Krauß, secretary Sonja Eichbichler, treasurer Heidi Waldherr and the assessors Christine Oswald and Anni Lippert.

They obviously have no shortage of ideas.

Tourism association celebrates anniversary on August 10th

The club does not want to celebrate its anniversary with an official ceremony in the summer, but is instead planning a joint celebration with the village shop, which has been in existence for a quarter of a century.

There will be a relaxed “griabigs get-together” on August 10th, as secretary Sonja Eichbichler reports.

Two small tents will be set up on the forecourt of the village shop – “hopefully as protection from the sun and not from the rain,” says Eichbichler.

Here guests can sit together comfortably with music, coffee, cake and hearty delicacies.

There is also a children's program, a bouncy castle and carriage rides.

Cookbook with recipes from Jachenau

The association's biggest project in its anniversary year is probably the publication of a cookbook.

Working title: “This is what Jachenau is like”.

“There was already a Jachenau housewife cookbook in the 1990s,” says Eichbichler.

This idea should be revived this year.

The secretary is convinced that this will be very well received by both guests and locals.

A leaflet will soon be distributed to all Jachenau households with a call to contribute a favorite recipe, regardless of whether it is the instructions for the perfect roast pork or Auszogne.

Because the calories need to be broken down again, the book should also contain hiking tips.

This could also be connected to the favorite recipes of the dairymaids on the Jachenauer Alpine pastures.

The association would also like to enrich the book with legends, myths and history from Jachenau.

Photos that were submitted for the Jachenau calendar last year are also intended to enhance the volume.

The schedule: Jachenauers should have until the end of October to submit their recipes.

“The goal is that we can sell the cookbook during the Christmas business,” says Eichbichler.

Bicycle service station planned in Jachenauer Kurpark

The association would like to tackle another project in the spring and set up a bicycle service station in the spa park.

Jachenau is a popular destination for day trippers and holidaymakers who explore the valley by bike.

“In the spa park you see many people taking a break and drinking water at the fountain,” says Eichbichler, who, as head of the tourist information office, has her workplace right next door.

A small station with the necessary tools for small emergency repairs on the bike would be a great fit.

The station will be paid for from the club's treasury.

Jachenau should get boards with “knowledge to go”.

The idea of setting up small information boards in the community under the motto “Knowledge to go” is still in the ideation stage.

According to initial considerations, these should be a maximum of DIN A4 in size and contain primarily images and little text.

According to Eichbichler, one consideration is to educate guests in a nice way about proper behavior in nature.

“A lot of things just happen out of ignorance.

For example, we could explain why you should stay on the paths and why it is not good to go cross-country.”

In addition, knowledge about agriculture and forestry, flora and fauna as well as history could be imparted.

Or even some funny “useless knowledge”, such as how many chickens live in Jachenau.

Locations could be “anywhere you stay,” says Eichbichler, for example, prominent places like at the church or at the “Zugspitzblick”.

No cross-country ski trail... what now?

Looking for alternatives for winter tourism

Looking to the future, the tourism association also wants to prepare for times when there is little snow.

The past winter has already clearly shown what a winter looks like in which the cross-country skiing paradise of Jachenau is largely unused.

Under the motto “No cross-country ski trail... what now?” The association is planning to launch a winter tourism working group.

The aim is to get landlords, the community, farmers, representatives of hunting and neighboring towns on board.

One result could be a concept for guiding visitors, such as a winter hiking map with designated routes.

Last but not least, the tourism association wants to go online with its own homepage this year.
