Drafts for an open-space photovoltaic system in Machtlfing are underway.

Machtlfing

- With the exception of a small piece (Zwickel), a 2.32 hectare agricultural area east of the IWL workshops in Machtlfing is to be used by an external operator to generate solar energy in the future (we reported).

The majority of the Andechs local council is open to these plans - with one exception: Thomas Sailer (CSU).

The farmer was the only one who couldn't get used to the project at the meeting on Tuesday: “I'm not going along with it.

I see it as competition to agriculture and food production,” he said.

The majority nevertheless approved the draft plans for changing the land use plan and for the necessary new development plan.

The early involvement of the authorities should, if possible, eliminate imponderables during the process.

This also includes possible blinding effects.

Christian Ufer from the Terrabiota office in Starnberg has already accompanied the planning for the community-owned facility in the Frieding gravel pit and was pleased to now be able to present the designs for the facility in Machtlfing - even if he immediately had bad news in his luggage.

It was only in the morning that he was presented with the results of a glare report, according to which the system creates a glare effect that requires glare protection at least four meters high, ideally an opaque hedge, he said.

However, protection must also be guaranteed in winter.

Regardless of this, the entire area should be surrounded by hedges.

The exception is the aforementioned gusset on the western side of the road right next to the workshops, where there are fruit trees.

These should stay.

Since an energy storage device and a transformer have to be accommodated on the area, Christian Pfänden (Bavarian Party) asked whether these buildings could perhaps be erected directly on the prominent danger areas.

Ufer is hopeful that a solution can be found with the authorities' early involvement.

“Then we can respond straight away,” he said.

The modules themselves should cover an area of 1.3 hectares and be arranged similarly to those in the gravel pit - with a maximum installation height of 3.80 meters.

For example, pasture management with sheep is conceivable, said Ufer.

The planner also had good news on Tuesday: a lengthy process to remove it from the landscape protection area is not necessary.

“One exemption is enough,” said Ufer.

Should the facility be dismantled at some point, the area would still be part of the landscape protection area.

Mayor Georg Scheitz, himself a farmer, showed great understanding for Sailer's opinion.

“We discussed it intensively.

And yes, roof areas should primarily be used to generate solar energy,” he said.

However, the mayor also had in mind the community's obligation to be energy self-sufficient at some point in the near future.

And “a three-megawatt system is a killer thing,” he emphasized.

According to estimates from the council, the whole of Machtlfing could be supplied with electricity.

Both drafts, both for changing the land use plan and the development plan, are now in the process.
