Not a week is without excitement at the new Lechfeldwiesen V development area. This time, the new noise protection wall has become the focus of Kauferinger's citizens.
The concrete wall and the stairwell shell remind some people of the “Berlin Wall”.
Reason enough to resolve this at the market town council meeting.
Kaufering - Even if the quote from Walter Ulbricht may serve as an initial impression (“No one has the intention of building a wall!”), Kaufering’s mayor Thomas Salzberger chose his words in the market town council meeting in connection with the construction of the noise barrier a little more discreetly: “Citizens already derisively call the noise barrier the 'Berlin Wall' because of the nearby Berlin Ring.
And was able to refute directly, “... but of course it won’t stay the way the building is currently.”
But what exactly is the stumbling block?
As part of the construction work on the Lechfeldwiesen V residential area, a noise barrier is being built on Augsburger Straße.
In its current state, this is a barren, gray and high concrete wall.
In connection with the staircase shell, memories of the Berlin Wall cannot be completely dismissed.
And the Kauferingers take advantage of this on social networks.
“Is Kaufering now building the Kaufering Wall?”
or “Welcome to the new Kaufering Correctional Facility” are just some of the statements.
Andreas Giampà from the technical building authority of the market town of Kaufering: “What you see outside now is a construction state” and adds: “A wall is always a wall.”
Giampà then explained in more detail that this will not remain the case.
The bases are then filled with soil.
And the 'highlight' is yet to come: after the construction work is completed, the current barren concrete wall will be decorated with wooden panels and then show a mountain panorama.
The only thing that reminds us of the bare wall are the mountains, “the concrete is still visible here,” says Giampà.
The market town council had agreed on this version after a lengthy discussion.
So there will be ridicule about the “Berlin Wall in Kaufering” for some time to come.
But this will probably subside with the completion of the noise barrier, when the Alpine panorama 'decorates' the concrete.
