The government of Upper Bavaria gives the green light: It has communicated to the Miesbach district office that it will cover the costs of the asylum accommodation at Vivo in Warngau.

This means the facility is gaining momentum.

Warngau

- It is the green light that the district office was eagerly waiting for: The government of Upper Bavaria decided on Wednesday to cover the costs of the container facility, which is intended to create space for 500 people.

Wolfgang Rupp, press spokesman for the government of Upper Bavaria, said this at the request of our newspaper.

As reported, the district office is planning a major liberation in the exercise of its state tasks in accommodating asylum seekers: A new container accommodation on property owned by the district-owned municipal company Vivo is intended to create capacity in order to free up the three occupied gymnasiums in Tegernsee and Miesbach.

For around two years, refugees have been housed there in camps without any privacy and the halls can no longer be used for school and popular sports.

For the planned accommodation, the district office has a service provider on hand who offers a complete package - with the containers, but also the operation, for example with a security service that is on site around the clock.

As reported, four two-story container blocks with living space for up to 120 people each are planned for the fenced area next to the recycling center.

There will also be a communal container for food, social work and accommodation.

The residents will be provided with catering.

A 45 square meter shopping area and a playground are also planned for the area.

Government of Upper Bavaria: “Choices are limited”

However, the operation of the accommodation and also the approval of the population equivalents required for wastewater disposal by the neighboring market town of Holzkirchen are only planned for two years - until then the district office wants to use other options to create enough room for accommodation.

This short period of time was one reason why there was still a question mark behind the approval of the government of Upper Bavaria from the perspective of the district office.

In fact, the current lack of alternatives was the decisive factor in approving the project anyway, explains the spokesman for the government of Upper Bavaria.

“The choices are relatively limited,” notes Rupp.

Not an exclusive problem: “This is not a unique feature of the Miesbach district, the tense situation applies to more or less all districts,” says Rupp.

By assuming the costs, the district office now has the necessary planning security.

Further enforcement rests with the district authority.

Nothing can be said about the costs due to private contracts.

When asked yesterday, the press office of the district office confirmed that the commitment to cover the costs had been received.

After all the agencies involved and the accommodation task force had been waiting for this start signal, the engine is now firing.

Next, the building application will be drawn up.

How long this will take cannot be said exactly.

“But due to the urgency of the measure, the task force will implement all steps as quickly as possible,” said the district office.

The community rejects the project.

Contracts ready to be signed, building application in progress

“The contracts with the operator are ready to be signed and the operator is in the starting blocks,” says the press office.

Before the containers can be set up, the surface must be prepared.

In purely structural terms, the biggest construction site on the project is the access to water, sewage and electricity.

However, this work was also prepared as far as possible.

Even if the authorities step on the gas: construction in the spring, as was planned in the winter, can no longer be maintained.

This means that the evacuation and renovation of the gymnasiums will also be postponed.

If the procedures and preparations are now running smoothly, the district office is expecting occupancy in the fall.

At least there is still room to build up helper structures.

The district office has been in contact with local help groups and committed citizens for some time now through the district's integration officer, Max Niedermeier, and Lisa Richters from Caritas.

The authority once again makes it clear why there is currently no way around large accommodations: “The creation and occupancy of larger accommodations such as Moarhölzl or Vivo is the only way to free up the district’s own gymnasiums for school and recreational sports again.”
