In the future we will all have a personal assistant with artificial intelligence, full control of our data, a large technology company could be dismembered: these are the three predictions for the future of the web made by one of its fathers, Tim Berners-Lee, 35 years since the beginning of the World Wide Web falling on these days.
In March 1989, in fact, Berners-Lee was working at CERN in Geneva and together with a colleague he presented a document to his supervisor which was the theoretical basis of the web.
The first site was then launched in 1991.
"When this all started, I couldn't have predicted that it would be like this, all this change," Berners-Lee said in an interview with CNBC.
Among his predictions about what the web will be like in the coming years, there is one about AI that will transform the way we interact with the Internet through digital assistants that will work for us, such as doctors, lawyers or bankers.
Another particularly current prediction by Berners-Lee, if you think about the situation of TikTok in the United States or the competition rules implemented by the EU, is the dismemberment of a large technology company.
Finally, and here the father of the web is particularly optimistic, in the future we will all have our own digital space in which we will have full control of our data instead of handing it over to technology giants.
