Ramadama, clothing exchange: On Saturday, March 16th, there will be a big day of action by the active circle in Markt Schwaben.

Start is at 9 a.m.

Markt Schwaben – “Get involved in the spirit of sustainability!” With this slogan, next Saturday, March 16th, all Markt Schwaben residents are called upon to actively participate in their local area.

The program starts at 9 a.m. during the annual Ramadama.

A community effort to help get the place reasonably clean again.

hold.

The volunteers receive gloves and garbage bags from the building yard.

The community has prepared puzzle fun for the younger helpers.

After the event is over, there will be another snack together at the construction yard.

From 12 p.m. we continue to the repair café in the “Blues!” youth center.

An ideal forum for everyone who doesn't want to simply throw away defective things.

From 5 p.m., the community library looks forward to interested listeners at the “Five o' clock-tea” with “Louis and friends”: There will be tea and pastries to accompany the live musical enjoyment.

Clothes swap party in the Unterbräukeller

For the perfect spring cleaning, the active circles invite you to the first clothes swap party from 7 p.m. in the Unterbräukeller (below “El Greco”) with a fashion show, bar and DJane Chéraldin: Under the motto “BRING 5 - TAKE 5”, guests bring good, sorted clothes with them exchange them for new favorite items.

This is how you take a stand against excessive consumption.

Both women's and men's clothing are exchanged.

The whole thing is intended for an audience aged 16 and over.

Admission is free, registrations are not required.

Leftover clothing will be donated to “Allerhand G'wand second hand”.

In this way, Alessandra Neumüller, Natalie Cusimano and Anja Birnkraut want to show that the topic of sustainability does not always have to be stressful, annoying and boring.

Coming from the three active circles of market and people, nature and sustainability as well as art and culture, each of the three contributes something of their own to the evening: Alessandra Neumüller will manage the bar operation with some women from “Frauen International - Markt Schwaben”, Anja Birnkraut is in contact with both with DJane Chéraldin as well as with Petra Schmidt, a textile upcycling artist who presents her works via fashion shows.

Natalie Cusimano is responsible for the advertising and sustainability aspects of the event.

For example, where the leftover clothing will be donated after the party.

In the spirit of sustainability

How did the idea come about?

Clothes swap parties take place all over Germany anytime and anywhere.

The motivation for such events is that, according to a study by Greenpeace, around four out of ten items of clothing are rarely or never worn.

Nevertheless, fashion brands continue to advertise new collections and cheap prices.

“In addition, the fashion industry is responsible for a relevant part of greenhouse gas production, massively destroys the environment and poisons nature and people in the production countries,” says a press release.

The format of a clothing swap party extends the life of clothing, reduces new purchases and draws attention to the issue.

To ensure that everyone has the same fun swapping, volunteers will be happy to give advice and constantly re-sort the clothes racks.
