Summary.
On March 13, the owner of the Canal+ group, Vincent Bolloré, was interviewed by the commission of inquiry responsible for the allocation of TNT frequencies.
For more than two hours, facing the commission's deputies, he defended his group and particularly its news channel, CNews, which found itself at the heart of several controversies.
Recently during a program, voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion) was presented as the “leading cause of death in the world”, causing a storm of indignation, particularly internally.
The news channel, formerly known as iTélé then renamed CNews in February 2017, has become in the space of a few years one of the most watched in France.
In December, it even found itself the leader in audience share for several days in a row.
But it is also the channel which has attracted the most criticism, accused of giving too much space to far-right ideas and of having become an opinion channel.
For Code source, two journalists from the culture department of Le Parisien, Benoît Daragon and Benjamin Meffre, media specialists, look back on the evolution of CNews.
