TikTok has reached the record figure of 16 billion dollars in revenues in the United States in 2023.

The Financial Times reports that ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns the popular app, is in the running to overtake Meta as the largest social media by revenue.

The rumors from the City newspaper come after the US Chamber gave the green light to a possible block of TikTok in the event that ByteDance does not cede ownership of the app within six months.

To buy TikTok, the former US Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin, is working on the creation of an American consortium.

“This project was conducted in secret and the bill was brought forward for one reason: to ban TikTok. We hope the Senate will consider the facts, listen to voters and understand the impact on the economy, the seven million small businesses and the 170 million Americans using our platform,” a TikTok spokesperson said.
