Google has officially announced that its annual developer conference, Google I/O, will start on Tuesday 14 May 2024. The confirmation came after the launch, on the event website, of a puzzle which, if solved, leads to the revelation of a in reverse which ends on May 14th.
At the beginning, albeit in the absence of an agenda, there will almost certainly be a speech by the company's CEO, Sundar Pichai, who could reveal the new projects related to artificial intelligence.
At the end of February, Big G unveiled Gemma, a family of models designed to give developers and researchers the ability to create customized AI solutions, like OpenAI's GPTs.
Artificial intelligence should also pervade more in Android 15, Google's next big mobile update, which will be released to everyone after autumn, starting with the Pixel series smartphones.
And speaking of smartphones, the Pixel 8a is expected at I/O 2024, a mid-range mobile phone that normally sits in the middle of the various generations of devices in the group.
Even in this case, the bulk of the interest will be on the AI functions that Google will have designed for the cheaper terminals.
After the first Pixel Fold, the manufacturer could present the Pixel Fold 2, this time distributed in more markets, after the limited availability of its predecessor.
The launch of some project relating to the metaverse cannot be ruled out, after the agreement which, at the beginning of 2023, saw Google, Samsung and Qualcomm collaborate for a mixed reality platform, known as Android Xr.
