A group of grandparents are taking lessons in using technology including exploiting computers and exploring the potential of smartphones from their grandkids in the Marche port city and capital of Ancona.
The initiative is part of a project at the Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei, in collaboration with the pensioners' unions Spi Cgil, Fnp Cisl, Uilp, and involves all the pupils of the fourth-year classes who have been prepared to carry out various activities to serve their communities.
"It's a way of bringing closer together two generations which are only apparently distant and to close a gap that should not exist," says head teacher Alessandra Rucci.
"The lessons are open to all the grandparents in Ancona, no matter if they have grandkids at the school or not.
"I'd like to urge all grandparents to take part in this important initiative that brings generations closer and which is open to the whole community. "Lessons include opening e-mail accounts and using smartphone apps like WhatsApp as well as social media, plus downloading books and music.
